Kaitlyn, Carter and I had another great night at handling class tonight! I think we’re ready for Longview.

Carter has been entered in Junior Showmanship at the upcoming Longview show, so he joined us tonight for conformation handling class with Verjean in Garland. We are very excited to have Carter joining us in this adventure. He had a great time at handling class. Verjean gave both the kids some homework: Practice table stacking in front of a mirror and walk with keys on a lead to loosen the shoulder.

I have heard so many raves about Verjean Lunenschloss’s conformation classes at Top Dog in Grapevine. The trouble is the class is really far away and all our friends go on weekday mornings. Obviously that won’t work with the younger kids, so Kaitlyn and I tried out the Monday night class tonight. The drive was long, the traffic terrible, and the evening late, but it was so worth it. The class was great! There were 16 dogs tonight, and I understand that’s an unusually large turnout. Verjean ran the class for an extra hour to be sure everyone got the attention they needed. We got home close to midnight, though.

We had a great time today at the show in Dallas. Knightley showed in the 12-18 months puppy dog class, and Kaitlyn took her first novice win in Junior Showmanship! We met a really nice family ringside during the junior classes and discovered we have a lot to learn about Juniors!

I attended a very informative seminar today on canine reproduction and whelping and puppy intensive care. I learned so much and had a great time friends. If you ever have the opportunity to attend one of Myra’s seminars, I highly recommend it!

We are so saddened to learn of the unexpected passing of our new friend, Carl Trehus, president of the Dallas Fort Worth Toy Dog Club. Carl was so kind and welcoming to Joel and I when we began attending club meetings and events. He had extremely interesting and insightful things to say about so many aspects of dog ownership and showing. I didn’t get the chance to learn enough enough from him. Our thoughts and prayers go out to his family and loved ones.

The whole family went to Carrollton tonight because the toy club meeting location has moved to Farmer’s Branch! We’re in the Dr Pepper Star Center now, and the location is so much nicer. The parking lot is well lit, and the center has popcorn and a bar! Who can beat that?! LOL. Joel and the kids got to spend the evening with Mimi and Poppy in Carrollton while I was at the meeting. I’m going to help out with the September show, and I came home with a membership application after the club encouraged me to join. I am honored and excited!

Knightley took first in his class again today in Denton. I wasn’t feeling well, so Kaitlyn showed him. She did amazing! We also brought Valentine along to socialize her. Huge thanks go to Lorie and Hannah Koch for the beautiful photos.

It was such a strange venue, very cramped with no ringside grooming or crates. I don’t think everyone will be coming back, because it was very difficult for the people there with multiple dogs. We had a great time going out for breakfast with friends after.
